CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — 21 SEPTEMBER 2026 — Charlie Void’s “Velvet Runway” is turning its release-day Apple Music placement into something considerably bigger.

The single was added to Apple Music’s editorial New Music Daily playlist on 18 September, the same day it was released. Simply landing on the playlist marked a career first for Void.

Three days later, it is still there — and its visibility has changed dramatically.

On release day, listeners had to scroll deep into New Music Daily to find “Velvet Runway.” By 21 September, the track had risen from that comparatively low-profile position to become the third song displayed in the playlist’s Best New Songs preview.

There, “Velvet Runway” appears immediately after new releases from Kim Petras and Troye Sivan, and directly ahead of Miley Cyrus.

The preview itself highlights only a small selection of songs before listeners have to open the wider Best New Songs selection.

Inside the expanded selection are releases from Sam Smith, Scissor Sisters, Chaka Khan & Sia, Tove Lo and other established international names — while “Velvet Runway” remains prominently positioned near the top.

For Void, the trajectory is the milestone.

“On Friday, I was thrilled just to find my song on New Music Daily. I had to scroll for it. Three days later, I open Apple Music and suddenly Velvet Runway is one of the first songs they’re showing people.”

And naturally, he has had some fun with the company he is keeping.

“Miley, I’m sorry. It’s nothing personal.”

His message to Troye Sivan was even shorter:

“Troye, I’m coming for you.”

The comments are playful, but Void makes no attempt to hide how significant the moment feels.

“This is my first-ever Apple Music editorial playlist placement. Staying on a playlist that is constantly refreshed would already have made me happy. Watching the song move from somewhere I had to hunt for to one of the first records you see in Best New Songs is another thing entirely.”

The result is particularly striking given the scale of the releases surrounding it.

“I don’t have the resources behind me that some of these campaigns do. So yes, I’m going to enjoy this one.”

“Velvet Runway” continues its release campaign across streaming, radio and media following its 18 September 2026 launch.

“I made the record to walk into the room like it belonged there. Apparently it found its way to the front.”

“Velvet Runway” is available now on Apple Music and major streaming platforms.
